🔧 Taillight Bulbs - Bulb Replacement
Replace the left and right rear taillight bulbs one side at a time. On your Grand Cherokee, the rear lamp housing is accessed from inside the cargo area, and the bulb sockets twist out from the back of the lamp assembly.

- Turn the headlight switch off before starting.

📋 Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
- Turn the ignition off and remove the key fob from the vehicle.
- Open the rear liftgate for access to the lamp area.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open the cargo area access
- Open the liftgate and move any cargo away from the side you are working on.
- Use a flashlight to find the rear access panel behind the taillight area.
Step 2: Remove the access cover
- Use a trim panel tool to gently release the rear lamp access cover.
- Set the cover aside so it does not get bent or scratched.
Step 3: Remove the bulb socket
- Use your hand to twist the bulb socket counterclockwise and pull it straight out.
- Do not force it.
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
- Install the new rear taillight bulb by pressing it into the socket until fully seated.
Step 5: Reinstall the socket
- Align the socket tabs with the lamp housing.
- Twist the socket clockwise until it locks in place.
Step 6: Test the light
- Turn on the parking lights and check the repaired taillight.
- Have a helper confirm both sides work if possible.
- If the bulb does not light, remove the socket and check the bulb seating.

- Check both taillights, brake lights, and turn signals.
- Make sure the access cover is fully snapped back into place.
- Verify there is no moisture or loose wiring around the lamp housing.
