Step-by-step instructions with tools, parts, torque specs, and safety tips for 2017, 2018
Assumption: Your CX-5 has replaceable rear tail lamp bulbs, not sealed LED units.
🔧 Taillight Bulbs - Bulb Replacement
The rear tail lamp bulbs are replaced from inside the cargo area. You’ll remove the inner trim access cover, take out the lamp housing fasteners, and swap the bulb holders on both sides.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Turn the lights off and remove the key fob from the vehicle.
- Let the bulbs cool before touching them. Hot bulbs can burn you.
- Use a clean glove or tissue on new bulbs. Skin oil can shorten bulb life.
- If the lamp housing feels stuck, do not force it. The locating pins can break.
- Battery disconnect is not required for this repair.
