How to Replace Both Taillight Bulbs on a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta
Step-by-step instructions with tools, parts, safety tips, and light testing
🔧 Taillight Bulbs - Bulb Replacement
To replace both rear taillight bulbs on your Jetta, you’ll access the bulb holders from inside the trunk, remove each socket, swap the bulbs, and reinstall everything in the same orientation. This is a simple job, but the plastic tabs and bulb holders can break if they’re forced, so work slowly.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Turn the lights off and remove the key before starting.
- Let the bulbs cool first. Halogen bulbs can burn you if they were just on.
- Do not touch new bulbs with bare fingers. Skin oil shortens bulb life.
- Work gently on the bulb holders and clips. The plastic gets brittle with age.
