🔧 Headlight Bulbs - Replacement
On your Silverado, the headlamp assemblies need to be removed to access the bulbs. This job is straightforward, but the bulbs and connectors are fragile, so work slowly and keep fingerprints off the glass or lens area.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1.0 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Turn the lights off and let the bulbs cool before touching anything.
- If your truck has HID bulbs, the lighting system uses high voltage. Do not touch the bulb leads or ballast connectors with the system powered.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable if you are uncomfortable working around the headlamp connectors.
- Do not touch the bulb glass. Oils from your fingers can shorten bulb life.
- Support the headlamp housing carefully so you do not scratch the bumper or grille.

- Pull the headlamp housing straight forward with both hands.
- Do not twist the housing.
Step 4: Disconnect the electrical connectors

- If a connector is tight, use a flat-blade screwdriver carefully to help lift the lock tab.
Step 5: Remove the old bulbs

- If your lamp uses HID bulbs, handle the bulb by the base only.
- Keep the bulb aligned during removal.
Step 6: Install the new bulbs
- Install the new bulb into the socket or housing using the same alignment as the old one.
- Twist clockwise by hand until it locks in place.
- Reconnect any electrical plugs until they click.
Step 7: Reinstall the headlamp assembly
- Slide the housing back into position by hand.

Step 8: Test the lights
