🔧 Headlight Bulbs - Bulb Replacement
Assumption: This guide applies only if your XC90 has serviceable headlight bulbs. If your headlamps are factory LED units, the bulbs are not separately replaceable and the complete headlamp assembly must be serviced.
On this vehicle, access is tight and one side may require moving nearby components to reach the rear of the lamp. Replace both bulbs as a pair so light output stays even on both sides.
Difficulty Level: Intermediate | Estimated Time: 1-2 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Headlights can get very hot. Let the lamps cool before starting.
- Do not touch the glass on halogen bulbs with bare fingers. Skin oil shortens bulb life.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal before touching headlamp wiring. This helps prevent short circuits.
- If your XC90 has HID/xenon lighting, the system uses high voltage. Do not touch the igniter or ballast with the system powered.
- Wear safety glasses and gloves.
