🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Remove the interior “sail panel” trim

• The “sail panel” is the small triangular interior trim at the front top corner of the door, right next to the mirror.
• Use a trim removal tool set (plastic) (specialty) to gently pry the sail panel outward and remove it.
• If there’s a small tweeter speaker connector, unplug it using a pick tool (small) to lift the lock tab.
• Pull straight out to avoid breaking clips.

Step 2: Remove the door switch panel

• Use a trim removal tool set (plastic) (specialty) to pry up the window/lock switch panel from the armrest.
• Unplug the electrical connectors by pressing the release tabs (use a pick tool (small) if needed).

Step 3: Remove door panel screws

• Remove the screw(s) behind the inside door handle trim using a Phillips #2 screwdriver (some doors use a hidden cover—pry the cover first with the trim removal tool set (plastic) (specialty)).
• Remove the screw(s) in the armrest/pull-handle pocket using a Phillips #2 screwdriver.

Step 4: Release the door panel clips and lift off the panel

• Use a trim removal tool set (plastic) (specialty) to start at the bottom edge of the door panel and pop the clips loose.
• Use panel clip pliers (specialty) if a clip is stubborn.
• Once clips are released, lift the door panel straight up to unhook it from the window ledge.
• Unplug any remaining connectors (courtesy light, etc.).

Step 5: Peel back the moisture barrier carefully

• The moisture barrier is the plastic sheet behind the door panel.
• Carefully peel it back near the mirror area using your hands (use the trim removal tool set (plastic) (specialty) to help). Try not to tear it.
• Keep the sticky seal clean for re-use.

Step 6: Unplug the mirror connector

• Locate the mirror wiring connector inside the door near the mirror mounting area.
• Press the release tab and unplug it (use a pick tool (small) if the tab is tight).

Step 7: Remove the mirror mounting nuts

• Hold the mirror on the outside with one hand.
• Use a 10mm socket, 6" socket extension (1/4" drive), and 1/4" drive ratchet to remove the three mirror mounting nuts.
• Remove the mirror from the outside and guide the wiring through the door opening.

Step 8: Install the new mirror assembly

• Feed the new mirror wiring through the door opening and seat the mirror against the door.
• Install the three mounting nuts by hand first to avoid cross-threading.
• Use a torque wrench (inch-pound) with a 10mm socket to tighten the nuts: Torque to 7.5 Nm (66 in-lbf).

Step 9: Reconnect wiring and reassemble the door

• Plug the mirror connector back in until it clicks (use your hands; avoid forcing).
• Reposition the moisture barrier and press the adhesive back into place.
• Reconnect door electrical connectors, then hang the door panel on the upper window ledge and press it down into place.
• Press around the edges to snap all clips back in.
• Reinstall screws with a Phillips #2 screwdriver.
• Reinstall the switch panel and sail panel (press straight in until clips seat).

Step 10: Reconnect the battery and function-test

• Reconnect the battery negative terminal using a 10mm socket.
• Test mirror movement, folding (if equipped), heat (if equipped), puddle light/turn signal (if equipped), and window/lock switches.
