- Fender liner push clips (as needed) - Qty: 2-6
š Before You Begin
- Park on level ground, shift to Park, and set the parking brake.
- Turn the steering wheel away from the side youāre working on (this opens up wheel-well access).
- If you want more room, lift that front corner with a floor jack and support with jack stands.
šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Confirm whether you have a replaceable bulb or an LED turn signal
- Use a flashlight and look behind the headlamp through the wheel-well access area.
- If you see a small, twist-out bulb socket going into the headlamp, you have a replaceable bulb.
- If you do not see any twist-out socket for the turn signal, itās likely an integrated LED (no bulb replacement).
- If unsure, tell me what you see and Iāll guide you.
Step 2: Open the wheel-well access (bulb-equipped headlamp)
- Turn the wheel outward for space (no tools).
- Remove the fender liner clips/screws near the front edge of the liner using a trim clip remover and Phillips screwdriver #2.
- If there are small bolts, remove them using a 10mm socket, 1/4" ratchet, and 6" extension.
- Pull the liner back carefully using a plastic trim tool.
Step 3: Remove the turn signal bulb socket
- Reach to the back of the headlamp and find the turn signal socket (itās a round socket that twists out).
- Twist the socket counterclockwise by hand; if itās tight, use a nitrile glove for grip.
- Pull the socket straight out.
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Remove the old bulb by pulling it straight out of the socket (no tools).
- Install the new bulb by pushing it straight in until fully seated.
- Reinstall the socket into the headlamp and twist clockwise until it locks.
- Donāt touch the bulb glass.
Step 5: Test the turn signal before reassembly
- Turn the ignition ON and switch on that turn signal.
- Confirm normal flash speed and brightness.
- Turn ignition OFF when done.
Step 6: Reinstall the wheel-well liner
- Reposition the liner and reinstall screws/clips using a Phillips screwdriver #2 and trim clip remover.
- Reinstall any 10mm bolts using a 10mm socket and 1/4" ratchet.
Step 7: If you removed the wheel, reinstall it (optional path)
- Install the wheel and hand-thread the lug nuts using a 21mm lug nut socket.
- Snug the lug nuts in a star pattern using a breaker bar.
- Lower the vehicle, then tighten with a torque wrench: Torque to 113 Nm (83 ft-lbs).
Step 8: If your turn signal is LED (no bulb)
- If the front turn signal is out and there is no bulb socket, the typical repair is replacing the headlamp assembly.
- Stop here and tell me: does the front turn signal fail on one side only, and do you have any moisture inside the headlamp?
ā After Repair
- Verify the turn signal flashes at a normal rate on the dash and outside.
- Turn on the hazard lights and confirm both front corners work.
- Recheck that the fender liner is secured and not rubbing the tire.
