🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Prepare the engine

• Use a drain pan to drain the engine oil and coolant.
• Use a socket set to remove the intake ducting, fan shroud, accessory drive belt, and front accessories as needed for access.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Step 2: Remove front cover components

• Use a socket set and trim clip tool to remove components blocking the front timing cover.
• Remove the crankshaft pulley using a breaker bar and crankshaft pulley holding tool (specialty).
• Remove the front timing cover bolts with a socket set.

Step 3: Set engine to timing position

• Rotate the engine to top dead center using a breaker bar on the crankshaft bolt.
• Align all timing marks exactly before removing any chains or guides.
• Do not force anything out of alignment.

Step 4: Replace timing components

• Use a socket set to remove the timing chain tensioners, guides, and chains.
• Install the new timing chain set and guides in the exact timed position.
