Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Remove the underbody access panel
- Use a Torx T40 screwdriver or appropriate socket to remove the undertray fasteners.
- Lower the panel and set it aside.
Step 2: Drain the transmission fluid
- Place a drain pan under the transmission.
- Use a Torx T55 socket to remove the drain plug.
- Let the fluid drain completely.
- Install a new drain plug washer and reinstall the plug.
- Torque to 35 Nm (26 ft-lbs).
Step 3: Refill with new fluid
- Locate the fill plug on the transmission case.
- Use a Torx T55 socket to remove the fill plug.
- Use a fluid transfer pump and catch funnel to add fluid slowly.
- Fill until fluid begins to run back out of the fill opening.
- Install the fill plug loosely for now.
Step 4: Start the engine and circulate the fluid
- Start the engine with the vehicle still level.
- Move the shifter slowly through all gear positions, pausing a few seconds in each.
- Return to Park.
Step 5: Set the final fluid level
- Use a scan tool with transmission temperature display to watch fluid temperature.
- With the engine idling, remove the fill plug again using the Torx T55 socket.
- At the correct temperature range, allow excess fluid to drip until it becomes a thin stream or steady drip.
- Reinstall the fill plug with a new washer.
- Torque to 35 Nm (26 ft-lbs).
- Level check temperature matters.
Step 6: Reinstall the underbody panel
- Reinstall the lower cover using the original fasteners.
- Make sure all clips and screws are secure.
