🔧 Transaxle Fluid - Drain and Fill
Your RAV4 Hybrid uses an electronically controlled transaxle, not a conventional belt CVT. This service replaces the fluid in the hybrid transaxle case and helps protect the electric motor/generator set and gear set from wear. The job is straightforward, but fill level accuracy matters, so go slow and work clean.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 1-2 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Hybrid high-voltage components are present. Do not touch orange cables or open HV components.
- Park on level ground and keep the vehicle securely supported with jack stands.
- Let the transaxle cool before draining; hot fluid can burn you.
- Use only the specified Toyota automatic transmission fluid type for this transaxle.
- Battery disconnect is not required for a basic drain-and-fill, but keep the ignition off the entire time.
