Step 2: Drain the old fluid

• Place a drain pan under the transmission.
• Use a 24mm socket or wrench to remove the drain plug.
• Let the fluid drain fully.
• Replace the drain plug gasket with a new one.
• Torque to 49 Nm (36 ft-lbs).

Step 3: Reinstall the drain plug

• Install the drain plug by hand first.
• Use a 24mm socket or wrench to tighten it fully.
• Do not overtighten. Torque to 49 Nm (36 ft-lbs).

Step 4: Refill with new fluid

• Use a fluid transfer pump to pump Toyota WS fluid into the fill hole.
• Add fluid until it begins to overflow lightly from the fill opening.
• Install the fill plug loosely for the level check.

Step 5: Set the fluid level at the correct temperature

• Start the engine with the vehicle still level.
• Use a fluid temperature scan tool (specialty) to monitor transmission fluid temperature.
• With the engine running, cycle through the shifter positions slowly, then return to Park.
• Remove the fill plug again when the fluid is at the correct temperature range.
• Add fluid until a thin stream just drips from the fill hole.
• Replace the fill plug gasket with a new one.
• Torque to 49 Nm (36 ft-lbs).

• Clean any spilled fluid from the transmission case.
