📋 Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
- Warm the engine for 2-3 minutes, then shut it off. Warm oil drains faster.
- Gather all parts before opening the drain plug.
- Tip: Have the new filter ready before draining.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Raise and secure the Rogue
- Use the floor jack to raise the front of your Rogue at the proper lift points.
- Support it with jack stands before going underneath.
- Place wheel chocks behind the rear wheels.
Step 2: Remove the undertray access panel
- Use the appropriate hand tools or fastener tool to remove the lower splash shield fasteners.
- Set the panel and fasteners aside in order.
Step 3: Drain the engine oil
- Place the drain pan under the oil pan drain plug.
- Use the 14mm socket and ratchet to remove the drain plug.
- Let the oil drain fully for several minutes.
- Install a new drain plug crush washer.
- Reinstall the drain plug and Torque to 25 Nm (18 ft-lbs).
Step 4: Remove the oil filter housing
- Move the drain pan under the oil filter housing.
- Use the 65mm 14-flute oil filter socket (specialty) to loosen and remove the filter housing cap.
- Pull the old filter element out of the housing.
- Remove the old O-ring from the housing cap carefully.
- Install the new O-ring from the kit and lightly coat it with clean engine oil.
- Install the new filter element into the housing cap.
- Reinstall the housing cap and Torque to 25 Nm (18 ft-lbs).
Step 5: Reinstall the undertray
- Put the splash shield back in place.
- Reinstall all fasteners snugly.
Step 6: Fill the engine with fresh oil
- Lower the vehicle back to level ground.
- Open the oil filler cap on top of the engine.
- Use a funnel and add about 4.5 quarts of 0W-20 synthetic first.
- Wait a minute, then check the dipstick.
- Top off slowly until the level is near the full mark.
- Total capacity is about 4.9 quarts with filter.
Step 7: Start and inspect
- Start the engine and let it idle for 30-60 seconds.
- Look underneath for any oil leaks at the drain plug and filter housing.
- Shut the engine off and wait 5 minutes.
- Recheck the dipstick and add oil if needed.

- Verify the oil level is at the full mark after the engine has sat for a few minutes.
- Check again for leaks after a short test drive.
- Reset the oil maintenance reminder in the vehicle settings if it is due.
- Recycle the used oil and filter at a proper collection center.
