🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Access the oil drain plug and filter
- If equipped, remove the lower engine shield using a 15mm socket and ratchet.
- Set the shield and fasteners aside in order.
Step 2: Drain the old oil
- Place the drain pan under the oil pan drain plug.
- Use a 15mm socket to loosen and remove the drain plug.
- Let the oil drain completely.
- Install a new drain plug washer.
- Reinstall the drain plug and Torque to 25 Nm (18 ft-lbs).
Step 3: Remove the old oil filter
- Move the drain pan under the oil filter housing.
- Use a 24mm socket to loosen the oil filter cap.
- Remove the cap and old filter element together.
- Pull the old filter element off the cap and replace it with the new one.
- Lightly coat the new filter O-ring with clean engine oil.
- Install the cap and Torque to 25 Nm (18 ft-lbs).
Step 4: Reinstall the shield
- Reinstall the lower engine shield using the 15mm socket.
- Make sure all clips and fasteners are seated properly.
Step 5: Add fresh oil
- Remove the oil fill cap and use a funnel to add about 5.5 quarts first.
- Install the fill cap, then start the engine for 30 seconds.
- Shut the engine off and wait 5 minutes.
- Check the dipstick and top off until the oil reaches the full mark.
Step 6: Check for leaks and reset oil life
- Inspect the drain plug and filter for leaks with the engine running.
- If no leaks are present, reset the oil life monitor in the driver information menu.
- Menu > Oil Life > Reset
- Tip: Reset only after the oil level is correct.
