🔧 Engine Oil & Filter - Oil Change
This service replaces the old engine oil and the oil filter so fresh oil can protect the turbocharged engine properly. On your GTI, the oil filter is a cartridge-style filter in a housing on top of the engine, so the job is clean and straightforward.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 1-1.5 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Work on a level surface and set the parking brake.
- Let the engine cool down before draining oil. Hot oil can burn you.
- Use jack stands if you lift the car. Never rely on a jack alone.
- Keep dirt out of the oil filter housing. Cleanliness matters on this engine.
- No battery disconnect is required for this repair.
