- Set the parking brake and chock the rear wheels.
- The oil filter housing area can be hot after driving.
- Do not overtighten the plastic oil filter cap.

Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Raise and secure the truck
- Use the floor jack to lift the front of the truck.
- Place jack stands under the proper frame points and lower the truck onto them.

Step 3: Drain the engine oil
- Place the oil drain pan under the oil pan drain plug.
- Use the 13mm socket and ratchet to remove the drain plug.
- Let the oil drain completely.

- Install the new filter element onto the cap.
- Replace the O-ring seals on the cap with the new ones from the filter kit.
- Lightly oil the new O-rings with clean engine oil.
- Reinstall the filter cap and torque to 25 Nm (18 ft-lbs).
Step 5: Refill the engine
- Lower the truck back to level ground.
- Use the funnel to add about 5.5 quarts of fresh engine oil first.
- Reinstall the oil fill cap.
- Start the engine and let it idle for 30-60 seconds.
- Shut the engine off and wait 5 minutes.
- Check the oil level with the dipstick and top off as needed.

- Verify the oil level is at the full mark on the dipstick.
- Wipe away any spilled oil.
- Reset the oil life monitor in the instrument cluster if needed.
