🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Locate the transmission type (dipstick vs sealed)

• Open the hood and look for an ATF dipstick handle near the transmission side of the engine bay.
• If you find one, wipe it with a rag, reinsert, and pull again to confirm it’s an ATF dipstick (not oil).
• If there is no ATF dipstick, your RAV4 likely uses an overflow/temperature-based level setting method.

Step 2: Locate drain and fill points (underneath)

• Use the floor jack and jack stands to safely support the RAV4 level.
• Remove any front undercovers as needed using a trim clip remover and metric sockets.
• Find the transmission pan and the drain plug area; take a clear photo for me.

Step 3: Stop here until confirmed

• Do not loosen any plugs yet—Toyota uses different plug setups and fluid specs on this generation.
• Once you confirm dipstick/sealed and share the underside photo, I’ll give you the exact drain-and-fill procedure, correct ATF spec, and all torque specs.
