🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Position the wiper arms

• 🔹Stand on the driver side of the Mustang facing the windshield.
• 🔹With the ignition off, gently lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the glass until it locks in the raised position.
• 🔹Place your towel under the lifted arm so the glass is protected.
• 🔹No tools are needed for this step; just your hands.

Step 2: Identify the wiper arm type and release tab

• 🔹Your Mustang uses a “hook” style wiper arm (the end of the arm is shaped like a small hook).
• 🔹Look at the center of the wiper blade where it attaches to the arm; you’ll see a small plastic latch or tab.
• 🔹Use the small flathead screwdriver to gently pry up or press in this tab if your fingers can’t press it easily.
• 🔹Be gentle; the plastic can be brittle.

Step 3: Remove the old driver-side wiper blade

• 🔹While holding the release tab (with your finger or the small flathead screwdriver), slide the wiper blade down toward the base of the arm to unhook it.
• 🔹Rotate the blade so it comes free from the hook at the end of the arm.

Step 5: Install the new driver-side blade

• 🔹Slide the hook of the arm through the opening in the new blade’s adapter.
• 🔹Pull the blade up toward the arm until the hook seats fully and you hear or feel a click.
• 🔹Gently tug the blade by hand to confirm it is locked; no tools are needed here.
• 🔹Carefully lower the arm and new blade back onto the windshield.

Step 6: Repeat removal on the passenger side

• 🔹Move to the passenger side and lift that wiper arm off the glass until it stays up.
• 🔹Place the towel under the arm to protect the glass.
• 🔹Locate the same style release tab on the passenger blade.
• 🔹Use the small flathead screwdriver to press or lift the tab if needed, then slide the blade down to unhook and remove it.

Step 7: Install the new passenger-side blade

• 🔹Prepare the new passenger blade with the correct hook-style adapter if it’s not already installed.
• 🔹Lift the arm from the towel and support it with one hand.
• 🔹Slide the arm’s hook through the adapter opening and pull the blade up until it clicks into place.
• 🔹Gently tug to be sure it’s secure.
• 🔹Lower the arm carefully back onto the glass.

Step 8: Clean the windshield and check your work

• 🔹Spray the windshield with glass cleaner and wipe with a microfiber towel to remove old wax, road film, and dirt.
• 🔹This helps the new blades work better and last longer.
• 🔹Look at both blades from outside: they should lie flat against the glass, with no twists or gaps.
