🛢️ Crosstour - Engine Oil & Filter Change

Safety First! Let the engine cool for at least 30 minutes before starting. Hot oil can burn you. Always use jack stands if you lift the car—never trust just the jack.

🧰 Tools & Parts Needed

  • 🛠️ Socket wrench (a tool for loosening/tightening bolts)
  • 17mm socket (for the drain plug)
  • Oil filter wrench (helps remove the oil filter)
  • Drain pan (to catch old oil)
  • Funnel (for pouring new oil)
  • New oil filter (Honda part #15400-PLM-A02 or equivalent)
  • 4.5 quarts of 0W-20 full synthetic oil
  • New drain plug washer (Honda part #94109-14000)
  • Gloves and rags

📝 Step-by-Step Instructions

  • 🅿️ Park on a level surface. Turn off the engine and set the parking brake.
  • 🆙 Lift the front of the Crosstour with a jack and secure with jack stands if needed.
  • 🛑 Remove the oil fill cap on top of the engine. This helps the oil drain faster.
  • 🪣 Place the drain pan under the oil pan (bottom of the engine).
  • 🔧 Loosen the drain plug (17mm) and let the oil drain completely. Be careful—the oil may still be warm!
  • 🔄 Replace the drain plug washer with a new one. Tighten the drain plug to 29 lb-ft (39 Nm).
  • 🔩 Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter. Some oil will spill—keep the pan under it.
  • 🧴 Rub a little new oil on the rubber gasket of the new filter. This helps it seal.
  • 🆕 Install the new filter by hand. Tighten until the gasket touches, then turn it another 3/4 turn.
  • â›˝ Pour in 4.5 quarts of new 0W-20 oil using the funnel.
  • 🧹 Check for leaks under the car. Wipe up any spills.
  • 🔑 Start the engine and let it run for 1 minute. Turn it off and wait 2 minutes, then check the oil level with the dipstick. Add oil if needed.
  • ♻️ Dispose of old oil and filter at a recycling center. Never pour oil down the drain!

📱 Resetting the Oil Life Monitor

  • Turn the ignition to ON (do not start the engine).
  • Press the SELECT/RESET knob until the oil life indicator is displayed.
  • Press and hold the SELECT/RESET knob for about 10 seconds until the oil life indicator blinks.
  • Release, then press and hold again for 5 seconds until it resets to 100%.

Tip: Always double-check the oil level after your first short drive!
