Crosstour - Front and Rear Wiper Blade Replacement 🧼

I’ll walk you through changing all the wipers on your Crosstour. It’s quick, safe, and a perfect first DIY.

Parts & Sizes

  • 🧩 Front driver blade: 26 inch (hook mount)
  • 🧩 Front passenger blade: 19 inch (hook mount)
  • 🧩 Rear blade: 15 inch (rear arm specific)

Tip: Beam-style blades wipe smoother and resist clogging in winter.

Tools You’ll Need

  • 🛠️ Small flat trim tool or flat screwdriver — helps press tabs (wrap the tip with tape to avoid scratches).
  • 🧴 Glass cleaner and towel — to clean the windshield before/after.

Safety First

  • ⚠️ Always lower the wiper arm gently. The bare arm can crack the glass if it snaps down.
  • 🧤 Put a folded towel on the windshield while working, just in case.

Front Wipers (J-Hook Arms)

  • 🪟 Lift the driver wiper arm off the glass so it stays up on its spring.
  • 🔎 Rotate the blade so it’s perpendicular to the arm; find the small release tab on the adapter near the hook.
  • 👆 Press the tab and slide the blade downward (toward the arm’s base) to unhook it, then pull it off the hook.
  • 🔁 Prepare the new 26" blade. Ensure it’s set up for a J-hook (most come preconfigured; remove any extra adapters).
  • 🪝 Slide the arm’s hook into the new blade adapter from the open side, then pull up until it clicks. A solid click means it’s locked.
  • ⬇️ Lower the arm gently onto the glass.
  • 🔂 Repeat the same steps for the passenger side with the 19" blade.

If it doesn’t click, it’s not locked. Try again before lowering.

Rear Wiper

  • 🔧 Lift the rear wiper arm at the hatch. It only lifts partway—this is normal.
  • 🔎 Locate the small side tab on the blade’s hinge area.
  • 👆 Press the tab and slide the blade outward, away from the arm’s small pivot pin, to release it.
  • 🧩 Align the new 15" rear blade on the arm’s pivot pin and slide it in until it clicks.
  • ⬇️ Lower the arm gently onto the glass.

Infotainment/Settings Check

  • 🖥️ No menu steps required. But turn the ignition OFF while working so the wipers don’t move.

Test & Final Touches

  • 💦 Clean the windshield and rear glass where the blades sweep.
  • 🚿 Turn ignition ON, mist washer, and run wipers. Check for streaks or chatter. If the arm chatter persists, clean the rubber edge with glass cleaner.
  • 🔁 Replace blades as a pair up front; they wear together.

Quick Troubleshooting

  • 🧠 Streaks right away: Protective cover still on the rubber? Remove it.
  • 🔄 Skips or chatters: Blade may be upside down on the hook or not fully clicked—re-seat it.
  • 🪙 Missed spots: Bend the arm? Don’t. Replace the blade first; if still bad, the arm spring may be weak.
