🔧 Accord - Front Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement

On your Accord, the front wiper blades slide onto the wiper arms with a common “hook-style” connection. Replacing them restores clear vision in rain and prevents the metal frame from scratching your windshield.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 10-20 minutes

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • ⚠️ Turn the ignition OFF before lifting the wiper arms.
  • ⚠️ Never let a wiper arm snap onto the glass—hold it and lower it gently.
  • ⚠️ Put a towel on the windshield under the wiper arm as a safety cushion.
  • ⚠️ No battery disconnect is required.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Safety glasses
  • Work gloves
  • Clean shop towel
  • Small flathead screwdriver

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blades - Driver: 26", Passenger: 18" - Qty: 2

📋 Before You Begin

  • 🅿️ Park on level ground, turn the ignition OFF, and remove the key.
  • Place a clean shop towel on the windshield below each wiper arm.
  • Lift the wiper arms up and away from the glass until they stay up.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Remove the old driver-side wiper blade

  • Use your work gloves and hold the wiper arm with one hand.
  • With your other hand, rotate the blade so it’s perpendicular (a “T” shape) to the arm.
  • Press the small release tab on the blade connector. If it’s stubborn, gently help the tab with a small flathead screwdriver. Don’t pry hard—just nudge.
  • Slide the blade down and off the hook at the end of the arm.

Step 2: Install the new driver-side wiper blade

  • Use your work gloves and keep holding the wiper arm steady.
  • Line up the new blade’s connector with the hook on the arm.
  • Slide it into place until you hear/feel a solid “click.”
  • Gently tug the blade (with your hand) to confirm it’s locked on.

Step 3: Repeat on the passenger-side wiper blade

  • Use the same process: rotate blade sideways, press the tab, and slide it off.
  • Install the new passenger blade and confirm it “clicks” and won’t slide off.

Step 4: Lower the wiper arms safely

  • Use your work gloves and lower each arm down slowly onto the windshield.
  • Remove the clean shop towel from the glass.

✅ After Repair

  • 🧪 Turn the ignition ON and test the wipers on LOW, then HIGH.
  • Spray washer fluid and confirm both blades wipe cleanly without skipping.
  • If you see streaking, wipe the rubber edge with a damp towel and test again.
