🔧 F-150 - Front Wiper Blade Replacement

Replacing the front wiper blades on your F-150 is a quick maintenance job that restores clear visibility in rain and improves safety. You’ll remove the old blade assemblies from the wiper arms and snap on the new ones with the correct adapter.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.25-0.5 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • ⚠️ Turn ignition OFF and keep hands clear of moving wiper arms.
  • ⚠️ Do not let the bare wiper arm snap onto the glass; it can crack the windshield.
  • ⚠️ Work on level ground with the truck in Park.
  • 🔋 Battery disconnect is not required.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Microfiber towel
  • Nitrile gloves
  • Safety glasses
  • Small flathead screwdriver

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blades - Driver: 22", Passenger: 22" - Qty: 2

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground, shift to Park, and turn the ignition OFF.
  • Place a microfiber towel on the windshield where each wiper arm could touch. Prevents accidental glass damage.
  • If your blades came with multiple adapters, set them out and match them to the factory connector before starting.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift the wiper arms safely

  • Lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays up.
  • Keep the microfiber towel on the glass under the arm.

Step 2: Remove the old wiper blade

  • Rotate the wiper blade so it’s roughly perpendicular to the wiper arm.
  • Press the release tab on the blade connector; if it’s tight, gently help it with a small flathead screwdriver.
  • Slide the blade down and off the wiper arm hook/connector.
  • Hold the arm—don’t let it spring back.

Step 3: Install the new wiper blade

  • Confirm the new blade is the correct length (both sides are 22" on your F-150).
  • Attach the correct included adapter to the new blade if it’s not already installed.
  • Slide the new blade onto the wiper arm connector until it clicks/locks.
  • Gently tug on the blade to confirm it’s fully latched.

Step 4: Repeat for the passenger side

  • Repeat Steps 1–3 on the passenger-side wiper arm using the microfiber towel for protection.

Step 5: Lower arms and verify operation

  • Carefully lower both wiper arms back onto the windshield.
  • Remove the microfiber towel.

✅ After Repair

  • Turn ignition ON and run the wipers with washer fluid for 5–10 wipes.
  • Check for streaking, chatter, or missed spots; re-seat the adapter if anything looks uneven.
  • Wipe the windshield edge where the blades park using a clean microfiber towel.
