🔧 Accord - Front Wiper Blade Replacement
You’ll remove the old wiper blades from the wiper arms and clip on new ones. The key is supporting the wiper arm so it doesn’t snap back and crack the windshield.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.25-0.5 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Keep a towel on the windshield; the wiper arm can snap back and chip glass.
- ⚠️ Do not turn the ignition on with a wiper arm lifted.
- ⚠️ Hold the wiper arm firmly anytime the blade is off.
- 🔋 Battery disconnect is not required.
🔧 Required Tools
You'll need the following tools for this repair:
- Safety glasses
- Nitrile gloves
- Microfiber towel
- Small flathead screwdriver

📋 Before You Begin
- Park on level ground, shift to Park, and turn the ignition OFF.
- Make sure the wipers are in their normal “parked” position at the bottom of the windshield.
- Lay a microfiber towel across the lower windshield under the wiper arms.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Confirm the blade type and length
- Look at the old blade for a length label (often printed near the middle).
- If no label, check the size printed on the blade packaging (if you have it).
- Most blades on your Accord use a “J-hook” connection (a J-shaped metal hook at the end of the arm).
Step 2: Lift the wiper arm safely
- Lift one wiper arm away from the glass until it stays up.
- Place the microfiber towel under the arm on the windshield as a cushion.
Step 3: Release the old blade from the J-hook
- Rotate the wiper blade so it’s roughly perpendicular (90°) to the wiper arm.
- Find the small locking tab where the blade connects to the hook.
- Press the tab with your fingers; if it’s stuck, gently help it with a small flathead screwdriver (don’t pry hard).
- While the tab is pressed, slide the blade down toward the open end of the J-hook until it comes free.
Step 4: Install the new blade
- Line up the new blade’s connector with the J-hook on the wiper arm.
- Slide it into place until you hear/feel a solid “click.”
- Gently tug on the blade to confirm it’s locked. It should not slide off.
Step 5: Lower the arm and repeat on the other side
- Carefully lower the wiper arm back onto the windshield (don’t drop it).
- Repeat Steps 2–4 for the other front wiper.
✅ After Repair
- Turn the ignition ON and run the front wipers with washer fluid for 5–10 seconds.
- Confirm both blades wipe smoothly and don’t chatter or leave unwiped streaks.
- If a blade streaks, wipe the rubber edge with a clean microfiber towel and try again.
