🔧 Wrangler - Front Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement

Replacing the front wiper blades on your Wrangler is a quick job that restores clear visibility in rain and reduces streaking. You’ll remove the old blades from the wiper arms and clip new ones on in the same position.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.2-0.5 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • ⚠️ Keep fingers clear of the hinge while folding the wiper arm up.
  • ⚠️ Don’t let the wiper arm snap onto the windshield; it can crack the glass.
  • ⚠️ If your blades are stuck, don’t pry on the windshield with tools.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Safety glasses
  • Nitrile gloves
  • Clean microfiber towel
  • Small flathead screwdriver

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front wiper blades - Driver: 15", Passenger: 15" - Qty: 2

📋 Before You Begin

  • 🧰 Park on level ground and switch the ignition off.
  • Lift each wiper arm up away from the windshield until it holds itself up.
  • Place a clean microfiber towel on the windshield under the arm as a cushion.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Remove the old wiper blade

  • With the arm lifted, find the small locking tab where the blade connects to the arm (this is the “J-hook” connector—an arm shaped like a J that the blade hooks onto).
  • Press the tab with your thumb; if it’s stubborn, gently press it with a small flathead screwdriver.
  • Slide the wiper blade down toward the base of the J-hook, then rotate the blade to unhook it and pull it off.

Step 2: Install the new wiper blade

  • Compare the new blade to the old one to confirm matching length.
  • Hook the new blade’s connector onto the J-hook and slide it upward until it clicks/locks in place.
  • Gently tug the blade with your hand to confirm it’s fully latched.

Step 3: Lower the wiper arms carefully

  • Remove the clean microfiber towel.
  • Lower the wiper arms back onto the windshield slowly by hand.
  • Lower slowly to avoid glass damage.

Step 4: Repeat on the other side

  • Repeat Steps 1–3 for the other front wiper blade.

✅ After Repair

  • 🧪 Turn the ignition on and test the wipers on LOW and HIGH.
  • Spray washer fluid and confirm the blades wipe cleanly without skipping.
  • If you see streaks, wipe the rubber edge with a clean microfiber towel and test again.
